This Fall, one size fits all...
Trends this fall are hot and heavy, and who has time to run home before happy hour? You don’t want to show up to the bar looking like you came straight from the boardroom, and you also don’t want to be the office tramp. So how do you find a happy medium? You don’t. You fake it!
A huge trend this season is neon pink. This is a loud color that may be too bold to pull off as a dress for the office. Tone this look down by covering up the top half and wearing the dress as a skirt. Pair it with a black or charcoal grey sweater that has a high neckline, and you can just tear off the sweater come 5 o’clock and rock it (just avoid the old women at the office who will say you are blinding them as you walk by!).
Another “big ticket” look is one-shoulder dresses. This one is easy to pair with a blazer and soft accessories during the day. Many of these pieces come in dark colors so they will be okay to wear to the office, as long as they aren’t showing your torso too much. Again, lose the blazer, add a big bangle on the naked arm, and enjoy.
Leather pants CAN be done, ladies! Wear them more as leggings with either a crisp white shirt or a high neck black sweater and you have a great fall look. Don’t get too low cut or sleeveless, otherwise you will look like you want to be taken to the broom closet. This look translates easily from day to night. The leather pants are total nightlife winners; pack a cute top if you must for later.
The designers went nuts for sequins this year, finally incorporating them into the daytime wardrobe, so enjoy ladies. Whether it is a sequined plaid skirt or a sequined top, pair the bedazzled piece with a solid plain top. This will offset the look and make it more casual for day. This look can work for both day and night; just lose the tights if you decide to be modest for the boss’ sake.
In addition to these trends, if you are planning a night out after work always pack a 4:30 bag. This should include a hair straighter (trust me on this one), eyeliner, mascara, eyelash curler, and bronzer. These tools will pretty you up till the sun goes down. Just remember to keep this bag on hand, as it also doubles as a “walk of shame” relief kit.
That’s all for now! Stay fab!
