Seasons Greetings From the Beach!
The holiday season is rapidly approaching and no one knows how to celebrate quite like South Beach socialites. Considering the balmy weather and hodgepodge of eclectic cultures, it should come as no surprise that this tropical mecca boasts endless festivities during this exciting time of year. When all is said and done, most of us are left with one burning question: “What do I wear to the main event?”
Sweaters
These cold weather classics not only provide necessary warmth throughout the chilly winter months, they also pack some serious style. Stay cozy at a casual family gathering in chunky cable-knit, or look sleek and sophisticated at a dinner party in a soft ribbed sweater dress; to score bonus points and an hourglass figure, cinch yours at the waist with an embellished belt. One great thing about sweaters is that they come in virtually every imaginable shape, style, size and color so the possibilities are endless! Sport a duster in place of a jacket, keep toasty in a turtleneck, or look chic at an office party in a lightweight cardigan. Pair your sweater with skinny jeans, leggings or tights to balance out bulkiness.
Texturize!
Don’t want to go unnoticed at the next holiday bash? Draw attention to your fabulous self by incorporating some texture into your wardrobe. Experiment, this season, with delicate lace, feminine satin, plush flannel, rustic tweed, edgy leather or oh-so-touchable velvet. Look for a variety of pieces such as tops, pants, skirts and jackets all made from these fabrics. Feeling extra bold? Mix and match different textures within the same outfit for an unexpected look.
Boots
Boots are here to stay and this season they are rising to new heights. Choose a pair that hit just above the knee or extend up the thigh. Boots can be worn in a variety of ways- Pull yours over a pair of skinny jeans or wear them with a sweater and tights for a trendy in-the-know look; pair with a dress or skirt to add instant sex appeal. In addition to adding panache to your get up, they will keep your legs nice and warm.
Shine On!
Don’t be shy this holiday season; ring in 2010 with a bang. Choose pieces embellished with sequins, rhinestones or jewels. Rock around the Christmas tree in a flashy sequined tank, show off in a bejeweled cardigan or sparkle and shine on the big night in a glittery gown. Too timid to go all the way? Add an eye-catching rhinestone broach to a solid top or dress, don a glistening cocktail ring or slip some embellished strappy shoes on.
In Living Color
South Beach exudes bright colors all year round; keep that in mind the next time you reach for that “little black dress.” Combat the winter blahs by integrating bold colors into your wardrobe. Look for hues such as vivacious chartreuse, lip smacking raspberry, lux gold, commanding crimson, earthy evergreen or imperial plum. Feeling a little daring? Sport a plaid shirt with a playful combination of bright colors to achieve a casual cool look or try on an audaciously bright blousy tunic with some leggings to become an instant fashionista.
Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize!
Accessories are the icing on the gingerbread man; use them generously to spice up any holiday ensemble. On the beach, scarves contest chilly air conditioning, but up north they are a downright necessity. The good news is they add a chic flair to almost anything. Sling a belt around your waist to emphasize your curves, carry a gleaming metallic clutch or embellish with some sparkly gem colored jewelry. Feeling listless? Swipe a shiny red polish on your nails to evoke instant holiday cheer.
Dare to make a lasting impression throughout your holiday endeavors; and remember, whether you arrive right on time, or fashionably late, be sure you show up in South Beach Style!
